WASHINGTON — Beginning Friday, October 20, Healio Gastroenterology and Liver Disease will provide live coverage from the The Liver Meeting 2017.

Held from Oct. 20 to 24 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, the meeting will feature a comprehensive program highlighting the latest developments in hepatology and practice management guidance.

On Saturday, Norah Terrault, MD, MPH, FAASLD, from the University of California will moderate the annual meeting press conference. Scott L. Friedman, MD, FAASLD, from the Icahn School of Medicine, will moderate an additional press conference Sunday with panelists including Arun Sanyal, MD, FAASLD, from the Virginia Commonwealth University, Mary E. Rinella, MD, FAASLD, from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, Zobair M. Younossi, MD, MPH, FAASLD, from the Inova Health System, and Terrault.

Other program highlights include:

  • novel treatments to improve liver transplant outcomes and measures to predict poor outcomes;
  • latest results of new and developing therapies for hepatitis C and hepatitis B;
  • demographic risk factors and screening procedures for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis; and
  • late-breaking results of treatment trials for primary sclerosing cholangitis, chronic liver disease, portal hypertension, and other liver diseases.

Healio Gastroenterology and Liver Disease staff will report live on breaking news presented at the meeting and capture video interviews with experts to gain perspectives on important presentations.
