US liver disease market totals $9.1 billion in 2014, expected to grow

In a new report, the global liver disease therapeutics market totaled $24.5 billion in 2014, with the U.S. contributing $9.1 billion, and is anticipating a global market of $33.8 billion by 2019, according to a press release.

“This industry is experiencing growth, as new product lines have been launched,” the release said.

In 2014, the U.S. alone totaled nearly $9.1 billion in the liver disease market and should reach $11.9 billion by 2019, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.6% from 2014 to 2019. The rest of the world totaled nearly $7.7 billion in 2014 and should reach $11.4 billion by 2019, with a CAGR of 8.1% between 2014 and 2019, according to the release.

To make these projections, researchers from BCC Research conducted a literature search of technical newsletters, journals and other sources, and used estimates such as the current number of end users, potential end users, mergers and acquisitions and various market trends. The researchers analyzed various liver disease drug markets by category with its applications in different regions of the world, as well as analyzed the regulatory environment, technology and market projections, according to the release.

The aim of the study was to provide detailed information on liver disease drugs in response to an increasing need for new and innovative drug therapies, according to the release.

“This study examines the areas of growth in the liver disease drug market from the point of view of both manufacturers and users,” the release said. “This study will be of interest largely to the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries, clinics, hospitals and research institutes.”
