Breastfeeding appeared safe in women with hormone receptor–positive early breast cancer who temporarily interrupted treatment to attempt pregnancy, according to results from the POSITIVE trial presented at ESMO Congress.

“I think that the main takeaway from this study is that women are motivated to breastfeed after a breast cancer diagnosis and interrupting treatment to have a child, and it appears to be safe and they were successful in doing so when they chose to,” Halle Moore, MD, director of the breast medical oncology at Cleveland Clinic Cancer Institute, told Healio in a video interview.
