CHICAGO — In partnership with COSMO, Healio awarded the Social Media Influencer award for 2024 to the Oncology Brothers.

The brothers — Rahul Gosain, MD, MBA, a medical director with Wilmot Cancer Institute at Webster, and Rohit Gosain, MD, medical director of hematology and oncology at Roswell Park Care Network in Southtowns, started their joint social journey in 2021. Since then, they have cultivated a community of discussion and leadership in the oncology space.

From X (Twitter) to Instagram to their podcast, the Oncology Brothers debate the latest innovations and bring in other leading experts to give their insight.

Both physicians lead in their daily lives at their respective institutions and bring a unique perspective as brothers, community oncologists and social media trailblazers.

At this year’s ASCO Annual Meeting, Healio gave its first “ambush award.”

Staff members surprised the Gosain brothers onsite with the news that they won the Social Media Influencer Award, given as part of Healio | HemOnc Today’s third annual Disruptive Innovators Awards program.

The Oncology Brothers had a conflict the night of the Disruptive Innovators Awards ceremony, so Healio presented their award a day earlier.

“You bring such a sense of fraternity to our community and I think you’re democratizing knowledge,” awards ceremony co-host Mark A. Lewis, MD, told the Oncology Brothers during the surprise awards presentation. “Our field actually has a significant problem with breadth and depth, and you’re tackling that. You’re much more than social media influencers. You’re using your platform to make a level playing field for people out there trying to take care of our patients.”
