Heart failure specialist to lead NYU Langone Health’s cardio-oncology program

Michelle Bloom, MD, has been named system director of the cardio-oncology program at NYU Langone Health.
The program provides specialized care to help protect cardiovascular health among people undergoing cancer treatment and cancer survivors.
“I take care of people for years beyond their cancer treatment and cherish these relationships, loving my patients like they are my own family,” Bloom said in a press release. “I’m honored t-o join the NYU Langone community, where there’s a strong culture of innovation and patient-centeredness. With the dedication of our team, I know we can make further significant advancements in the field that will result in improved outcomes for our patients.”
Bloom — a recognized heart failure specialist — focuses on prevention, early detection and management of potential cancer treatment-related cardiac effects.
She will serve as professor in the division of cardiology at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine, as well as professor in the division of cardiology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
She previously served as co-director of the cardio-oncology program at Stony Brook University Hospital and associate professor in the department of medicine at Stony Brook School of Medicine.

Fishman, MD, the William Goldring professor of medicine and director of Leon H. Charney division of cardiology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, said in the release. “Her experience as a clinician, educator and researcher will further enhance the NYU Langone community. We look forward to a phase of significant clinical and academic advancement under her leadership in our program.”
