“I am honored to become the next ONS president and look forward to contributing to the organization that supported me through the early stages of my career and beyond,” MacIntyre said in a press release. “Through ONS, I developed lifelong colleagues and leadership skills, and learned how to use my voice in advocacy and support for patients, nursing and advanced practice initiatives.

“As I embark on this role, my focus is on how to support all our members, particularly oncology nurses and nurse practitioners, in the early stages of their careers,” she added. “By continuing to promote mentorship and professional development, we can create an environment where every member, regardless of experience, feels empowered, valued and equipped to deliver exceptional care in this challenging health care landscape.”

MacIntyre will succeed current society President Danya Garner, PhD, RN, NPD-BC, OCN, CCRN.

“[MacIntyre] not only possesses a wealth of oncology nursing expertise in clinical, advanced practice and administrative functions, but she also understands the diverse perspectives of oncology nurses and those to whom they provide nursing care,” Garner said in the release.
