Oncologist to lead breast cancer program at UCLA Health

Aditya Bardia, MD, has been appointed to multiple leadership roles at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Bardia will serve as director of the breast cancer clinical and research programs.
He also will serve as assistant chief of translational research in the division of hematology/oncology, as well as director of translational research integration and co-director of the breast cancer disease site group.
The appointments will take effect Jan. 2.
“Dr. Bardia brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in integrating clinical and basic science, which will significantly advance our research capabilities for a disease that globally impacts millions every year,” Dennis J. Slamon, MD, PhD, chief of hematology-oncology and director of clinical and translational research at the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, said in a press release. “We are very excited he is joining our institution and look forward to working with him in directing aspects of the division's overall research and clinical programs.”
Bardia — a breast medical oncologist and physician scientist recognized for his work developing targeted and personalized therapies for breast cancer — most recently served as attending physician and director of breast cancer research at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also served as associate professor at Harvard Medical School.
