In a video interview with Healio, Chandrajit Raut, MD, MS, discussed highlights from “one of the best” Connective Tissue Oncology Society meetings he has attended.

Raut, chief of surgical oncology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, surgical director of the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center sarcoma and bone oncology programs, and professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School, highlighted the global focus at this year’s meeting. The meeting had “more representation from sarcoma centers around the globe,” according to Raut.

One session featured presentations on improving sarcoma care globally. In addition, CTOS provided travel grants for experts from middle- to lower-income countries, allowing the opportunity “for more diverse podium presentations than we’ve seen in the past” as well as for studies to be presented that may not have gotten as much “air-time” at other meetings, Raut said.
