VIDEO: 'Thought-provoking data' on financial toxicity of thyroid cancer presented at ATA
In this video, Jonathan Wadsley, MA, MRCP, FRCR, a consultant clinical oncologist at Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield, U.K., discussed financial toxicity associated with thyroid cancer diagnosis.
The subject was part of a presentation by Cord Sturgeon, MD, MS, FACS, chief of endocrine surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, during the "Living beyond thyroid cancer: Improving thyroid cancer survivorship” symposium at the American Thyroid Association Annual Meeting.
“There was some really thought-provoking data on just what it costs patients to go through treatment for thyroid cancers; not just the actual medical costs, but the costs from time away from work — particularly in this group of patients who are often young adults who don't necessarily have the protection that older adults have from their employer," Wadsley said.
