Gastrointestinal cancer specialist joins Henry Ford Cancer Institute

Philip A. Philip, MD, PhD, has been appointed director of gastrointestinal oncology and neuroendocrine oncology at Henry Ford Cancer Institute.
Philip also will serve as medical director of research and clinical care integration, and co-leader of Henry Ford Pancreatic Cancer Center.
“Dr. Philip is a prolific researcher and skillful clinician with extensive experience in an academic medical center environment,” Steven Kalkanis, MD, CEO of Henry Ford Medical Group and chief academic officer at Henry Ford Health System, said in a press release. “He is a strong leader with a proven track record demonstrating his deep commitment to providing outstanding patient care and achieving scientific breakthroughs that are continuing to help advance research in many aspects of pancreatic cancer.”
Philip, recognized for his expertise in pancreatic cancer and neuroendocrine tumors, held several leadership roles at Karmanos Cancer Center over the past 25 years.
He will continue to serve as tenured professor of oncology at Wayne State University School of Medicine.
