UCSF appoints neuro-oncology division chief

John F. de Groot, MD, has been appointed chief of the neuro-oncology division at University of California, San Francisco.

De Groot specializes in the treatment of adults with brain tumors, including glioblastomas and other gliomas. He is recognized for his expertise in immunotherapy and molecularly targeted therapy.

De Groot previously served as director of clinical research in neuro-oncology and interim chair of the department of neuro-oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He had been on the MD Anderson faculty since 2004, serving as director of the institution’s neuro-oncology fellowship program for 8 years.
