David Carbone, MD, PhD, received International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer’s Paul A. Bunn Jr. Scientific Award.

The award — presented at this year’s IASLC Word Conference on Lung Cancer — recognizes a scientist for lifetime achievement in scientific contributions to thoracic cancer research.

Carbone is professor of internal medicine and director of James Thoracic Oncology Center at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and Solove Research Institute. He also is professor of medicine at The Ohio State University and holds the Barbara J. Bonner chair in lung research.

Carbone previously served as professor of medicine, cell biology and cancer biology at Vanderbilt University, where he was director of the thoracic/head and neck cancer program.

Carbone’s most recent research has focused on development of molecular biomarkers to guide patient treatment, as well as molecular profiling of lung cancers and preneoplasias to guide the development of novel therapeutics.
