Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital appoints chief of pediatric hematology

Lakshmanan Krishnamurti, MD, has been appointed chief of pediatric hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital.

Krishnamurti also will serve as leader of Smilow Cancer Hospital’s pediatric hematology/oncology program.

His appointment will take effect Oct. 1.

Krishnamurti currently serves as director of the bone marrow transplantation program and professor of pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. He also holds the Joseph Kuechenmeister Aflac Field Force chair at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

His expertise will propel our pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant teams,” Nita Ahuja, MD, MBA, FACS, interim director of Yale Cancer Center and physician-in-chief at Smilow Cancer Hospital, said in a press release. “I am confident Dr. Krishnamurti’s expertise will continue to expand the impact of our clinical and research advances for our pediatric patients with cancer and their families.”
