Memorial Sloan Kettering staff members honored for nursing excellence

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Robbins Family Foundation presented Robbins Family Awards for Nursing Excellence to eight individuals and one team.

The foundation has sponsored these awards for 2 years to honor extraordinary achievement by Memorial Sloan Kettering nurses and their contributions to the institution’s mission.

“We are appreciative to the Robbins Family Foundation for their generous support and leadership,” Elizabeth McCormick, senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Memorial Sloan Kettering, said in a press release. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the over 5,000 nurses who have continuously given extraordinary care throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Memorial Sloan Kettering nurses continue to showcase the vital and powerful role nurses play in our patients’ lives every day. They stay committed to our mission of providing safe and exceptional care.”

The individuals who received this year’s awards are:

Tamara Strah, DNP, RN, CNOR, perioperative nurse liaison at Josie Robertson Surgical Center, recognized for excellence in patient experience;

Debra O’Shea, MSN, RN, AOCNS, EBP-C, clinical nurse specialist on the outpatient leukemia service, recognized for excellence in advancing the nursing profession;

Jericho Garcia, MSN, RN-BC, nursing informatics specialist, recognized for excellence in innovation;

Nancy M. Borzain, MA, RN, OCN, NE-BC, clinical supervisor, recognized for excellence in mentorship;

Julio Eugenio, environmental service porter, recognized for excellence in nursing partnership;

Melody Rosamilia, MSN, RN, OCN, clinical nurse IV, recognized for excellence in clinical nursing leadership;

Venessa Rubano, patient care technician, recognized for excellence in nursing support; and

Tracey O’Keeffe Ramponi, BSN, RN, CCRN, clinical nurse III in the post-anesthesia care unit, recognized for excellence in humanitarian efforts.

A team of clinicals received the Excellence in Collaboration award in recognition of rapid technology innovation in response to COVID-19. The honorees included You ‘Jay’ Chung, MSN, RN-BC, CCRN-K; Hector DeJesus; Melissa Zimmermann, MS, BSN, RN-BC; Tham Nguyen, MSN, RN-BC; Dave Vang, MSN, RN; Eric Froehlich, MS, BSN, RN-BC; Tania Bubb, PhD, RN; Ashley Jackson; Jennifer Larbi; Vyacheslav Belovsky; Sergey Kovalev; Jeff Francisquini; Joyce Burkett; Thomas Cheng; Michelle Rausen; Michelle Cavuoto, MA, RN, OCN, CNIV; Andrew Graham, DNP, RN, PCCN-K; Yekaterina “Kate” Tayban, MSN, RN, ACNP-BC, GNP-BC; and Jay Isbell, MD.
