In this video, Kelly K. Hunt, MD, FACS, FSSO, professor and chair of the department of breast surgical oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, spoke with Healio about topics in DNA at the 38th Annual Miami Breast Cancer Conference.
Recent advances in DNA damage response and repair, according to Hunt, are a developing area of treatment in metastatic breast cancer.
“That’s definitely being incorporated into the treatment of patients — not only those with BRCA mutations, but also those who have tumors with aberrant DNA damage response pathways. It’s an area that's evolving that definitely is going to be more movement in the field in the coming year,” Hunt said.
