City of Hope appoints radiation oncology chair

Terence M. Williams, MD, PhD, has been appointed chair of City of Hope’s department of radiation oncology.
Williams will be responsible for expanding clinical and basic science research in the department. He also will expand and integrate novel treatments, provide professional development opportunities for radiation oncology physicians and expand the radiation oncology residency program.
Williams previously held several leadership roles at The James Cancer Hospital and Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University. He most recently served as vice chair of translational research, associate professor of radiation oncology, and division director of the thoracic and hepatopancreaticobiliary clinical programs.
He specializes in treatment of gastrointestinal and thoracic cancers, with emphasis on pancreatic cancer, hepatobiliary malignancies and non-small cell lung cancer.
His research has focused on DNA damage response pathways, DNA repair and novel mechanisms of sensitization to radiation and other genotoxic therapies.
