“This is an outstanding slate of leaders who are committed to our patients and our community,” Candace S. Johnson, PhD, president and CEO of Roswell Park, said in a press release. “I cannot wait to see what this team brings to the table as we work to be as effective and impactful as possible in our research and our patient care.”

  • David Donovan has been appointed to the new role of vice president for strategy planning and materials management. Donovan has provided oversight and strategic leadership in areas such as supply chain management and collaborative partnerships since joining Roswell Park in 2015.
  • Stephen Edge, MD, FACS, FASCO, has been appointed vice president for system quality and outcomes. Edge previously served as vice president of health care outcomes and policy. In this expanded role, he will focus on optimizing coordination and quality of care for patients while continuing his clinical work in breast surgery and as leader of Roswell Park’s Oncology Pathways Program.
  • Kai Fu, MD, PhD, has been appointed to lead the hematopathology division of the department of pathology. Fu, a physician-scientist, will lead a team of board-certified hematopathologists investigating diseases affecting or found in blood cells, such as leukemias and lymphomas. He will assist faculty in clinical, translational and basic scientific research.
  • Steven Hochwald, MD, MBA, FACS, has been promoted to chief of perioperative services. Hochwald, who has been on staff at Roswell Park since 2012, continues to serve as vice chair of surgical oncology and chief of gastrointestinal surgery. He will oversee all endoscopic and surgical procedures at the cancer center, as well as quality assurance across perioperative services.
  • Joseph Maher, MD, has been appointed director of clinical genetics. Maher will work with genetic counselors and clinical teams to expand Roswell Park’s Clinical Genetics program in traditional single-gene disorders, such as BRCA1/BRCA2-related breast and ovarian cancers, and conduct research to explore the impact of genetics on cancer treatment and prevention.
  • Sunita Manuballa, DDS, has been appointed chief of dentistry and maxillofacial prosthetics. Manuballa will oversee all clinical activities within the department of dentistry and maxillofacial prosthetics, closely collaborating with medical and surgical services, while continuing to serve as program director of the general practice residency program.
  • Sara Randolph has been appointed executive director of health plan partnerships and value-based care. Randolph joined Roswell Park in 2014 and most recently served as director of payer relations. In her new role, she will continue to encourage innovative program development and collaborations with payers.
  • Elizabeth Repasky, PhD, has been appointed interim chief of immunology. Repasky, the Dr. William Huebsch professor of immunology, has received several awards for her work as an educator and mentor. Her research into the impact of body temperature and thermal stress on immunotherapy has led to clinical trials at the Roswell Park.
  • David Tear, MBA, has been promoted to vice president of the Roswell Park Care Network. Tear previously served in roles involving ambulatory services and business development. He will work to organize operations of Roswell Park Care Network — which delivers cancer care to patients in their own communities through community partnerships and affiliates — under a shared vision.
