Fox Chase Cancer Center appoints associate director for population science
Carolyn Y. Fang, PhD, co-leader of Fox Chase Cancer Center’s cancer prevention and control program, has been appointed the institution’s associate director for population science.
Fang will oversee the scientific and programming direction for population science. She will help develop initiatives to support advances in population science research, as well as strengthen community engagement and outreach.

“My goal is to expand the role and reach of population science research both regionally and nationally,” Fang said in a press release. “We have an exceptional team of population scientists at Fox Chase Cancer Center who are experts across the cancer continuum, from prevention to survivorship.”
Fang’s research focuses on how behavioral, biological and psychosocial factors can influence cancer risk, particularly among Asian American populations. She is recognized for her expertise in the areas of biobehavioral oncology and cancer health disparities.
Fang will work closely with Susan G. Fisher, MS, PhD, who previously served as Fox Chase’s associate director for population science. Fisher now serves as associate director for cancer health disparities and community engagement, as well as chair of and professor in the department of clinical sciences at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.
