USC appoints cancer physician in chief

Steven Grossman, MD, PhD, has been named cancer physician in chief of USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.
In this role, he will provide executive leadership of oncology services and work with clinical and academic leaders to advance new models of interdisciplinary care delivery.
Grossman — recognized for his expertise in gastrointestinal cancers — also will serve as professor of medicine at Keck School of Medicine of USC.
“I am truly honored to join USC Norris in this newly created position,” Grossman said in a press release. “I am excited to expand USC Norris’ exceptional patient-focused clinical cancer services that provide multidisciplinary care and integrate cutting-edge clinical research at every level of the patient experience.”
Grossman previously served as deputy director and endowed chair in cancer research at Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center. He also served as chair of the division of hematology, oncology and palliative care.
He will begin his new roles at USC on Sept. 15.
“His exceptional experience and track record as a clinical and scientific leader will enable us to accelerate our mission of delivering the most innovative, evidence-based care to our diverse patient population,” Caryn Lerman, PhD, director of USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and associate dean for cancer programs at Keck School, said in the release.
