In this video, David R. Gandara, MD, director of the thoracic oncology program at UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, discussed challenges and adaptations concerning this year’s virtual International Lung Cancer Congress.

“What we decided to do this year was create more interactive sessions … by using audience response devices. One of the most interesting sessions was our interactive panel discussion on checkpoint immunotherapy in advanced non-small cell lung cancer, where we had seven or eight experts on the panel and developed a series of questions for them to address. Because it was interactive and we asked questions in a way that engaged the audience, it was a great success,” Gandara said.

He explained that a reason for this success came from observing ASCO 2020. “The audience wants to be engaged, and hear live discussions going on. That’s one thing that we learned from ASCO, and our virtual meeting was better because of it.”
