The US Oncology Network appoints chief radiation oncologist

Vivek S. Kavadi, MD, FASTRO, has been named chief radiation oncologist for The US Oncology Network.

Kavadi will be responsible for overseeing development of clinical strategies and best practices that advance delivery of innovative radiation therapies across the network. He also will lead new radiation oncology initiatives designed to help practices provide value-based care.

“Joining [The US Oncology Network] in this capacity provides a wonderful opportunity to meet the goals I have always had throughout my career to deliver high-quality, cutting-edge care, to contribute to the advancement of my field and to provide meaningful leadership when the opportunity arose,” Kavadi said in a press release.

Kavadi has been a practicing radiation oncologist for almost 30 years. He most recently treated patients at Texas Oncology, a practice within The US Oncology Network.

He has served as chairman of the network’s radiation executive committee and medical director of radiation oncology.

His clinical interests include breast cancer and prostate cancer.

“Dr. Kavadi is a highly regarded leader in radiation oncology, and we are honored he has chosen to join our team,” Marcus Neubauer, MD, chief medical officer of The US Oncology Network, said in the release. “He brings extraordinary leadership skills and clinical expertise in radiation oncology to our organization.”
