American Society for Radiation Oncology members receive fellow designation

American Society for Radiation Oncology selected 19 members to receive ASTRO fellow designation.
The honorees will be recognized during a virtual awards ceremony Oct. 27 at ASTRO’s 62nd Annual Meeting.
“On behalf of ASTRO, I commend these outstanding physicians and scientists for their collective and far-reaching contributions to our specialty, as well as for each individual's work to advance cancer research, education and clinical care to improve patient outcomes,” Theodore L. DeWeese, MD, FASTRO, chair of ASTRO’s board of directors, said in a society-issued press release.
ASTRO fellow designation honors individuals who made significant contributions to the society and radiation oncology through research, patient care, education or service to the field. Only 366 of ASTRO’s 10,000-plus members around the world have received FASTRO designation since 2006.
The 2020 fellows are Elizabeth H. Baldini, MD, MPH, of Brigham & Women’s Hospital/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; Sushil Beriwal, MD, MBA, of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center; Ronald C. Chen, MD, MPH, of University of Kansas Cancer Center; Prajnan Das, MD, MS, MPH, of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center; William F. Demas, MD, of Northeast Ohio Medical University and Salem Regional Medical Center; Jason A. Efstathiou, MD, DPhil, of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School; Ronald D.
