Fox Chase Cancer Center announces faculty appointments
Fox Chase Cancer Center announced several faculty appointments.
• Andrea S. Porpiglia, MD, MSc, joined the department of surgical oncology in the division of general surgery. She will serve as assistant professor in the academic clinician track.
Porpiglia previously served as division chief of surgical oncology at Crozer-Keystone Health System.
She previously served as research technologist and senior research technologist in the department of immunology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
• Shazia K. Nakhoda, MD, joined the hematology-lymphoma program within the department of hematology/oncology.
Nakhoda received her medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. She was an internal medicine resident in the department of medicine at University of Maryland Medical Center.
Nakhoda is a co-investigator in four ongoing research projects at Fox Chase.
• Weier Li, MD, has been named assistant professor in the department of diagnostic imaging, where he serves as a full-time body imager.
Li received his medical degree from University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He completed his internal medicine internship at University of Tennessee, followed by a radiology residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed fellowship training in both abdominal imaging and musculoskeletal imaging.
• Jessica Karen Wong, MD, MEng, joined the department of radiation oncology as an assistant professor.
Wong received her medical degree from University of Tennessee College of Medicine. She completed her internship in internal medicine at University of Tennessee Health Science Center and completed her radiation oncology residency program at Fox Chase.
Wong, who has a master’s degree in biomedical engineering, has experience in areas such as brachytherapy and external beam radiation therapy. Her academic focus is on treatment of prostate cancer and lymphoma.
• J. Nicholas Bodor, MD, PhD, MPH, will serve in the thoracic oncology program within the department of hematology/oncology.
Bodor received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, and he earned a doctorate in public health nutrition and master of public health degree with a concentration in maternal and child health and epidemiology from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He will join Fox Chase on Aug. 1 after completion of the Fox Chase-Temple Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program.
• Brandon Bachert, MD, will join Fox Chase on Aug. 3 as assistant professor in the department of diagnostic imaging, where he will serve as a full-time body imager.
Bachert previously served as staff radiologist at Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, where he completed his diagnostic radiology residency.
He received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, and he completed an abdominal imaging fellowship at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
