Charles Rudin, MD, PhD, received the Paul A. Bunn Jr. Scientific Award from International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer.

The award — presented at the association’s World Conference on Lung Cancer, held in September in Barcelona — recognizes lifetime achievement in scientific contributions to thoracic cancer research.

Rudin is Sylvia Hassenfeld professor and chief of thoracic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He also co-directs the institution’s Druckenmiller Center for Lung Cancer Research.

His primary interest area is small cell lung cancer. He serves as chair of NCI’s Small Cell Lung Cancer Research Consortium, a network of investigators who study the disease from the standpoints of oncogenesis, genomic and epigenetic drivers, and therapeutic vulnerabilities.
