Ohio State cancer center appoints hematology division director

Yiping Yang, MD, PhD, has been appointed director of the division of hematology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center — Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
He also will serve as professor of medicine in the Ohio State College of Medicine’s division of hematology.
Yang most recently served as co-director of the hematologic malignancies and cell therapies program and professor of medicine/immunology at Duke Cancer Institute and Duke University School of Medicine .
Yang — who h ad been on the Duke faculty since 2002 — specializes in the treatment of leukemia , lymphoma and virus-associated malignancies. His research interests include tumor immunology and viral immunity.
“We are building an exceptional immuno-oncology team here that will propel us forward in the field of immuno-oncology,” Raphael Pollock, MD, PhD, director of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, said in a press release. “We are excited that Dr. Yang has decided to bring his research and clinical expertise to Columbus for the benefit of central Ohio.”
