The Lymphoma Research Foundation will present its Distinguished Leadership Award to Anas Younes, MD, at its annual gala on Sept. 26.
Younes — special adviser to the chief of medicine for research and Steven Greenberg chair in lymphoma research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center — will be honored for his support of the foundation, his dedication to patients with lymphoma and their families, and his achievements in clinical care and research.
“We are excited to honor Dr. Younes with the Distinguished Leadership Award. His accomplishments in lymphoma research and in the clinic have impacted the treatment landscape and led to lasting impact on patient outcomes,” Michael Werner, chair of the Lymphoma Research Foundation board of directors, said in a press release. “In addition to his groundbreaking research and outstanding clinical care, Dr. Younes has been instrumental in steering the foundation’s research initiatives, helping to ensure that the next generation of scientists enter and remain in the lymphoma field.”
Younes — recognized for his expertise in Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma — previously served as chief of the lymphoma service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He also spent 2 decades treating patients and conducting research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
He served on Lymphoma Research Foundation’s scientific advisory board from 2009 until this year.
“I am truly honored to be involved with the Lymphoma Research Foundation and to be recognized with the Distinguished Leadership Award,” Younes said in the release. “The foundation is critical to helping advance research and improved therapies for [patients with lymphoma] and empowering patients through education.”
