City of Hope provost admitted into Association of American Physicians

Steven T. Rosen, MD, provost and chief scientific officer at City of Hope, has been admitted into the Association of American Physicians.
The nonprofit association — founded in 1885 — strives to advance scientific and practical medicine. Selection is based on “the highest caliber of physician-led science accomplishments and science leadership,” according to the association’s nomination form.
Members aim to advance discoveries in clinical and basic science.
Larry Kwak, MD, vice president and deputy director of the comprehensive cancer center at City of Hope, nominated Rosen for the honor.
“Dr. Rosen continues to demonstrate exemplary leadership, compassionate patient care and transformational contributions to cancer research,” Kwak said.
Rosen is the longest-serving director of an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the United States, first at Northwestern University’s Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center and now at City of Hope.
His research focuses on leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
“What is so magical about Dr. Rosen is his combination of translational science and his caring,” Michael Caligiuri, MD, Deana and Steve Campbell physician-in-chief distinguished chair and president of City of Hope National Medical Center, said in a press release. “He is one of the nicest human beings on earth, kind and considerate to every walk of life, while at the same time intensively driving for prevention and cures to blood cancers.”
