VIDEO: Multidisciplinary project aims to educate physicians, patients about best practices in CLL care

The Association of Community Cancer Centers recently launched its Multidisciplinary Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Care education project.
The initiative is designed to provide insights into the current landscape of CLL in the community, identify effective practices and potential gaps in provider and patient communication, and provide peer-to-peer learning and resources to ensure best practices in patient care.
“This is a great opportunity for us to provide significant education to community physicians and providers and ultimately their patients about the correct approach to treat and diagnose and prognosticate for our patients,” John M. Pagel, MD, PhD, chief of hematologic malignancies and director of stem cell transplantation at Swedish Cancer Institute, as well as an advisory board member for ACCC, told HemOnc Today.
Specific goals include increasing awareness about the need for genetic testing and the importance of advancing the most appropriate therapies for each patient.
“This is a series of educational opportunities, as well as opportunities to really measure your practice and see how that translates to outcomes,” Pagel said. – by Mark Leiser
