Pat A. Basu, MD, MBA, has been appointed president and CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America Global Inc., which includes the Comprehensive Cancer Care Network of Cancer Treatment Centers of America hospitals and outpatient care centers.

In this role, Basu will be responsible for expanding and strengthening the network’s clinical services while developing new businesses that leverage technology, data, population health and ecosystem partnerships.

He also will serve as a member of Cancer Treatment Centers of America’s (CTCA) board of directors.

"As an executive, physician and believer that together we can defeat cancer, I'm thrilled to lead thousands of talented physicians and stakeholders at CTCA who have dedicated their careers to this critical mission,” Basu said in a press release. “I believe it is a new dawn in the battle against cancer where we will marshal cutting-edge medicine, powerful data analytics, new partnerships and renewed resolve to help millions of Americans prevent, detect and defeat this enemy.”

Basu, a former physician at Stanford University Medical Center and White House adviser, previously served on the executive leader team at UnitedHealth Group and as senior vice president at Optum. He also helped start Doctor On Demand, a provider of telehealth video visits.

“Pat is a board-certified physician, seasoned health care executive and visionary leader whose career has been dedicated to improving the American health care system and to his relentless pursuit of delivering high-quality, patient-centric and value-based care to millions of patients," Darren Keller, vice chairman of the CTCA board, said in the release. “His accomplishments fully align with our vision to be recognized and trusted by people living with cancer as the premier center for healing, empowerment and hope.”
