Aaron Schimmer, MD, PhD, FRCPC, has been appointed research director at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

His appointment will take effect Feb. 15.

Schimmer has served as clinician and researcher at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre since 2003, and he became interim associate director of research in January 2018.

During his time there, he has developed a research program focused on therapeutic strategies for targeting leukemia and leukemia stem cells.

Schimmer also is professor at University of Toronto’s department of medicine, department of medical biophysics and Institute of Medical Science.
