Julian Schink, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer for Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

Schink joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in 2017 as chief of gynecologic oncology. He serves in a regional clinical leadership capacity at CTCA Chicago. He also treats patients at the Downtown Chicago Outpatient Cancer Center in Chicago and the CTCA Comprehensive Care and Research Center in Zion, Illinois.

In his new role, Schink will provide leadership and direction for CTCA’s enterprise-wide clinical programs. He also will serve as a liaison between physicians and administrative leaders.

“I am excited to take on this new challenge,” Schink said in a press release. “I’m thrilled to work with my talented colleagues across the enterprise and am laser-focused on the opportunities we have to expand access to innovative treatment options and compassionate care for patients across the U.S. and internationally.”

Schink will report to Maurie Markman, MD, CTCA’s president of medicine and science. Markman also is a HemOnc Today Editorial Board member.

“Julian’s appointment signals CTCA’s continued focus on our incomparable delivery of the Mother Standard of care and our goal to ensure maximum effort is put toward patient care, treatment options, clinical programs, quality, outcomes and critical external relationships that hold clinical value in high regard,” Markman said in a press release.

Schink previously served as vice chair of obstetrics and gynecology and professor at University of Wisconsin Medical School. He also served as professor of gynecology and cancer research at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
