The Ohio State Comprehensive Cancer Center appoints surgical oncology director

Allan Tsung, MD, has been appointed director of the division of surgical oncology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center — Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute and Ohio State University College of Medicine.
His appointment will take effect Jan. 1, 2019.
“Allan is a nationally respected surgeon and scientist, so we are thrilled to have him join our cancer center to bring this expertise to serve patients in central Ohio and beyond,” Raphael Pollock, MD, PhD, director of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, said in a press release.
Tsung’s clinical interests include liver, bile duct and pancreas cancers.
Tsung — known for his expertise in robotic and laparoscopic surgery — serves as Raizman-Haney endowed chair and professor of surgery at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). He has been on the faculty there since 2008, having also served as director of the liver cancer program at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
He also led the UPMC regional therapy program for primary and metastatic liver cancers, and served as vice chair of research for UPMC’s department of surgery.
