Kristen Whitaker, MD, has been appointed assistant professor in the department of clinical genetics at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Whitaker will treat patients with breast cancer. She also will serve as a member of the clinical genetics team, with a focus on breast cancer genetics and prevention.

Whitaker received her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at George Washington University Hospital.

She completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at The University of Chicago with a focus in breast cancer and clinical genetics.

“We’re very excited for Dr. Whitaker to join us at Fox Chase,” Michael Hall, MD, MS, interim chair of the department of clinical genetics, said in a press release. “Her experience treating breast cancer and conducting cancer risk research will be a strong addition to our department.”

Members of Fox Chase Cancer Center’s department of clinical genetics provide comprehensive risk assessment services, using genetic testing and family history to determine whether patients are at high risk for certain types of cancer and develop individualized prevention options.
