Benjamin Movsas, MD, has been elected president of American Society for Radiation Oncology’s Society of Chairs of Academic Radiation Oncology Programs.
Movsas — chair of the department of radiation oncology at Henry Ford Cancer Institute — previously served as vice president. He began his 1-year term as president this summer.
ASTRO’s Society of Chairs of Academic Radiation Oncology Programs, comprised of national leaders in radiation oncology, provides a forum for chairs of academic radiation oncology programs to discuss issues of common interest. It also allows them to share ideas to shape the direction and vision of the field of radiation oncology.
Movsas — recognized for his expertise in lung cancer, prostate cancer, stereotactic radiation and quality-of-life issues pertaining to cancer — recently was elected education council vice chair for ASTRO’s board of directors.
He serves as president-elect of American Radium Society and will assume the presidency next spring. He also is co-chair of the NCI Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Committee.
