Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine appoints hematology/oncology division chief

William J. Gradishar, MD, has been appointed chief of the division of hematology and oncology in the department of medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Gradishar — a HemOnc Today Editorial Board Member — is Betsy Bramsen professor of breast oncology and professor of medicine in the division of hematology and oncology, as well as director of the clinical network of Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.
“Gradishar is an outstanding physician, scientist and mentor,” Leonidas Platanias, MD, PhD, director of Lurie Cancer Center, said in a press release. “I am confident that his strong leadership will advance the division of hematology and oncology during this important phase of growth for our cancer program.”
Gradishar joined Northwestern as an assistant professor of medicine in 1990. He was promoted to professor in 2005. He has served as director of breast medical oncology since 1992 and director of Maggie Daley Center for Women’s Cancer Care since 2010.
Gradishar is recognized for his expertise in breast cancer management. His clinical and research efforts have focused on the development of novel therapies, including those that target breast cancer at the molecular level.
