Columbia University professor joins Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation advisory board

Adolfo Ferrando, MD, PhD, has joined Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation’s scientific advisory board.
Ferrando is professor at Institute for Cancer Genetics at Columbia University, as well as professor of pediatrics and pathology/cell biology, associate director for research in the pediatric oncology division, and director of the lymphoid development and malignancies program at Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center.
“I’m delighted to welcome Adolfo Ferrando to the [foundation’s] scientific advisory board,” Samuel Waxman, MD, founder and CEO of Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, said in a press release. “[He] brings an impressive track record of research in high-risk leukemias and lymphomas to our brain trust of collaborators, and we are looking forward to his contributions to our grants review process.”
The nonprofit Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation funds cutting-edge research that identifies and corrects abnormal gene function that causes cancer. Since its inception in 1976, the foundation has awarded approximately $100 million to support the work of more than 200 researchers worldwide.
The foundation’s scientific advisory board members, along with the foundation’s scientific leaders, evaluate grant proposals submitted by scientists with NCI-approved research programs.
