Association of American Cancer Institutes to present Distinguished Scientist Award

The Association of American Cancer Institutes will present its Distinguished Scientist Award to Charles M. Perou, PhD.
Perou is May Goldman Shaw distinguished professor of molecular oncology, professor of genetics, and pathology and laboratory medicine at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. He also is faculty director of UNC Lineberger’s Bioinformatics Group and codirector of its breast cancer research program.
The award recognizes Perou’s research accomplishments in precision medicine, as well as his research related to the characterization of the diversity of human tumors.
Perou will receive the award Oct. 1 during the Association of American Cancer Institutes/Cancer Center Administrators Forum Annual Meeting.
He also will give a talk that will focus on the value of sequencing-based approaches for lung and breast cancers.
