Fox Chase Cancer Center announces appointments

Fox Chase Cancer Center announced several appointments.
- Hayley E. Walker, MD, has joined the department of medicine as a hospitalist.
Walker completed her residency at Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. During her residency, she published research on emotions and attitudes toward endocrine therapy among young women with breast cancer.
Walker received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School, and her undergraduate degree from University of Pennsylvania.
“We are excited to bring Hayley to our department,” David S. Weinberg, MD, MSc, chair of the department of medicine, said in a press release. “With her blend of research interests and skill in the clinic, she will be an excellent fit at Fox Chase.”
- Carlyn Tan, MD, joined the department of hematology/oncology.
Tan earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. In 2014, she joined Fox Chase Cancer Center/Temple University for a three-year fellowship in hematology/oncology.
“Over the last three years, I’ve had the opportunity to see how special Fox Chase Cancer Center is,” Tan said in a press release. “I’m thrilled to continue my career here and look forward to working with my colleagues to move our department forward as we work to deliver the best possible care to our patients.”
Tan is board certified in internal medicine, and she is board eligible in hematology and medical oncology.
“During her time at Fox Chase, Dr. Tan has shown her dedication and compassion to her patients. She is an outstanding clinician and has developed considerable expertise in the treatment of patients with hematologic malignancies and bone marrow transplantation,” Martin J. Edelman, MD, chair of the department of hematology/oncology at Fox Chase, said in the release. “She will play an important role in our expanding program in bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy.”
- Reza Nejati, MD, will serve as a hematopathologist in the department of pathology.
“Fox Chase Cancer Center provides innovative care with compassion and strives to develop cutting-edge therapies for patients,” Nejati said in a press release. “I look forward to joining my new colleagues in delivering this high standard of care.”
Nejati completed a fellowship in hematopathology at University of Pennsylvania. He received his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran, and he completed his residency training in anatomical and clinical pathology at Iran University of Medical Sciences and University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Nejati completed a surgical pathology fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and he is board certified in anatomical and clinical pathology.
“Dr. Nejati brings a depth of knowledge and international scope that will benefit our team here at Fox Chase,” Arthur Patchefsky, MD, chair of the department of pathology, said in a press release. “His experience, both here in the United States and internationally, is a key asset to the growth and direction our department strives for.”
