Theodoros N. Teknos

Theodoros N. Teknos, MD, has been named president and scientific officer of University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center.

Teknos — who will begin his new role Oct. 1 — has served in several leadership roles at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center since 2008. He currently serves as professor in and chair of the department of otolaryngology — head and neck surgery.

He previously served as division chief of the head and neck oncology division at University of Michigan Health System.

“Dr. Teknos is a renowned clinician and academic authority in head and neck cancers, and he will continue his surgical practice, clinical trials and research here,” Daniel Simon, MD, president of University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, said in a press release. “We look forward to working with Dr. Teknos and are confident his leadership will advance our clinical, academic and strategic business objectives at University Hosiptals Seidman Cancer Center.”

Teknos will lead the development of strategic, business and marketing plans for University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, including cancer-related palliative care and integrative care. He also will oversee all inpatient and ambulatory cancer care delivered at facilities across the University Hospitals system.

Teknos will succeed the retiring Nathan Levitan, MD, who has served as president and scientific officer at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center since 2008.
