Lee Hales, BS, CMD, chief medical dosimetrist in the department of radiation medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, will serve a 1-year term as president-elect of the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists.
He subsequently will serve 1-year terms as president and past president of the association, which includes approximately 4,000 members.
Medical dosimetrists use imaging and graphic technologies to design radiation treatment plans for patients.
“Lee’s election is a direct result of his reputation within the national medical dosimetry community as a strong leader and administrator, coupled with his reputation as an exceptionally talented medical dosimetrist and educator,” Matthew Podgorsak, PhD, chief medical physicist at Roswell Park, said in a press release.
Hales, who has worked in the field of radiation medicine for more than 2 decades, joined Roswell Park’s staff in 2003.
“Being involved in the leadership of the [association] will allow me and my peers to actively navigate the changing health care environment so that we can continue to provide great care for our patients,” Hales said in the release.
