Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey appoints chief nursing officer

Janet Gordils-Perez, DNP, RN, ANP-BC, AOCNP, has been promoted to chief nursing officer at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
Gordils-Perez — who most recently served as director of oncology nursing — joined Rutgers Cancer Institute in 2004. Prior to that, she served as adult nurse practitioner and clinical research nurse at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
“Over the past 13 years, Dr. Gordils-Perez has had a tremendous impact on our clinical operations,” Deborah Toppmeyer, MD, chief medical officer at Rutgers Cancer Institute and professor of medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, said in a press release. “She works tirelessly to assure that the nursing program at Rutgers Cancer Institute is exemplary and supports an efficient practice.”
Gordils-Perez oversees 150 clinical and administrative staff. She will be responsible for treatment nursing, advanced practice nursing, pediatric nursing, social work, medical health technician support, and nursing/patient education.
Since joining Rutgers Cancer Institute, she has been instrumental in the expansion of its hematologic malignancies/blood and marrow transplant, brain and spine, and head and neck programs.
“Dr. Gordils-Perez is an effective leader in the enhanced cancer services initiative between Rutgers Cancer Institute and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, ensuring quality cancer care is delivered in a seamless fashion,” Kimyatta Washington, MHSA, vice president and director of clinical operations at Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health, said in the release.
