VIDEO: Managing immune-related adverse events requires multidisciplinary approach

NEW YORK — Kathleen M. Madden, MSN, FNP, AOCNP, APHN, a nurse practitioner at the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center at the NYU Langone Medical Center, discussed best practices in identifying and managing immune-related adverse events at HemOnc Today Melanoma and Cutaneous Malignancies.
After adverse events have occurred, provider collaboration, patient education, and emotional and physical support are crucial, Madden said.
“It really does take a village to care for these patients,” she said. “It’s a multimodal, multidisciplinary approach. [Patients] appreciate that, they support it, but it really is important we have all of these key players in place.”
