Denis Guttridge, PhD, has been appointed associate director for basic research at The Ohio State Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Guttridge — who will coordinate basic science across the cancer center’s research programs — most recently served as co-leader of the center’s molecular carcinogenesis and chemoprevention program.

“We are excited to have Denis in this expanded leadership role. He is a driven scientist and strong mentor to junior faculty,” Michael Caligiuri, MD, director of the cancer center, as well as CEO of the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, said in a press release. “He has played a number of important roles within our cancer center, and I have no doubt he will continue to contribute in a big way to our vision of creating a cancer-free world.”

Guttridge is a professor in The Ohio State University College of Medicine Department of Cancer Biology and Genetics. His research focuses on the nuclear factor kappa B family of transcription factors, and the role these molecules play in cell growth and differentiation. His interests include cancer cachexia and pancreatic cancer.
