Julie Hammon, RN, MSN, oncology nurse navigator at Oaklawn Hospital in Michigan, has been appointed to the American Health Council’s nursing board.

In her position, Hammon will have the opportunity to share her knowledge of hematology, oncology, clinical research, patient care, health care finance, education and leadership.

Hammon — a practicing registered nurse for the past 25 years — is affiliated with Oncology Nursing Society, Michigan Cancer Consortium and Calhoun County Cancer Control Coalition. She also is adjunct professor at Baker College in Jackson, Mich.

Colleagues praised her commitment to providing patients with the best possible evidenced-based care, as well as her desire to educate patients and families.
