Seattle Cancer Care Alliance announced that glassybaby provided $25,000 to support a newly named scholarship for alliance nurses, as well as oncology nurse students who are training at area colleges and universities.

The Rosemary Ford Future of Oncology Nursing Scholarship is named after a former Seattle Cancer Care Alliance employee who retired after a 40-year nursing career.

“We are grateful to glassybaby for allowing us to reach and empower even more oncology nursing students of promise,” Kathleen Shannon Dorcy, PhD, RN, director of clinical/nursing research, education and practice at the alliance, said in a press release. “Their partnership will allow us to build on Rosemary’s legacy of lifelong learning and dedicated clinical excellence in cancer care in support of [the alliance’s] patients.”

Scholarships were presented to three Seattle Cancer Care Alliance nurses: Arlyce Jo Coumar, Julia Marsh and Bonny C. Ogala.

They also were presented to the following students: Timothy McSpadden of Seattle Pacific University; Steven Michael Pasek of Seattle University; Rafael Achacoso of University of Washington; Lizbeth Hernandez and Dyan Raposas of Green River College; and Bailey Jo Hoglund and Krista Meeks of North Seattle College.
