The American Association for Cancer Research and Tesaro have partnered to offer the AACR-Tesaro Career Development Award for Immuno-Oncology Research.
The grant — which will provide $200,000 over 2 years beginning on July 1 — is intended for a researcher focused on biological mechanisms underlying checkpoint inhibitor resistance or approaches to overcome this resistance.
“The AACR is pleased to partner with Tesaro to offer this grant opportunity to a young researcher who is committed to making an impact in the cutting-edge field of immuno-oncology,” Mitch Stoller, executive director of the AACR Foundation, said in a press release. “The field has already yielded several revolutionary approaches to cancer treatment, and we are excited to be able to support research that has the potential to benefit patients in the future.”
The recipient will be recognized at the AACR Annual Meeting, scheduled for April 1-5 in Washington, D.C.
“This is truly an exciting time for the advancement of oncology drug development through new discoveries in immune-oncology, and supporting junior faculty to conduct research in this area has never been more important,” Jeffrey H. Hanke, PhD, executive vice president of research and development and chief scientific officer at Tesaro, said in the release. “We are proud to be working with AACR to prevent and cure cancer through research and collaboration, and by building sustainable relationships with the research community.”
Letters of intent must be submitted by 1 p.m. Jan. 10 to the proposalCENTRAL website.
