“Dr. Davidson brings a wealth of experience and insight,” Gary Gilliland, MD, PhD, president and director of Fred Hutch, said in a press release. “She is ideally suited to further enrich the already outstanding interactions between the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, UW Medicine and Fred Hutch. I am eagerly looking forward to working with her.”

Davidson has been on the faculty at University of Pittsburgh since 2009 and most recently served as director of University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. She is an internationally recognized physician–scientist in cancer biology and treatment, particularly breast cancer.

She is president of the American Association for Cancer Research and past president of ASCO.

“I have the good fortune to join the cancer team at one of the top public universities and cancer centers in the world,” Davidson said. “The chance to become a part of the team at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Fred Hutch [and] UW — whose collective mission is the pursuit of better, longer, richer lives for patients with cancer — was very attractive. The opportunity to think about how the great science of the Fred Hutch and UW can be harnessed to provide evidence-based and patient-centric care at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance proved to be irresistible for me.”

Davidson will hold leadership positions with other institutions within the consortium. She will be senior vice president and director of the clinical research division at Fred Hutch; professor and head of the division of medical oncology at UW School of Medicine; and president and executive director of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
