Several clinicians have joined the faculty at City of Hope.

Flavia Pichiorri , PhD, has been appointed associate professor in the Judy and Bernard Briskin Center for Multiple Myeloma Research within the Hematologic Malignancies and Stem Cell Transplantation Institute. Pichiorri previously served as assistant professor in the division of hematology at Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Weili Sun, MD, PhD, has been appointed associate clinical professor in the department of pediatrics. She also will serve as director of pediatric leukemia. Sun previously served as assistant professor in the pediatrics department at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Keck School of Medicine of USC.

Angelo Cardoso, MD, PhD, has been named research professor in the Center for Gene Therapy within the Hematologic Malignancies and Stem Cell Transplantation Institute. He also will serve as director of the Laboratory for Cellular Medicine. Cardoso previously served as director of the Angio BioCore at Indiana University Simon Cancer Center.

Benjamin Cahan, MD, will serve as assistant clinical professor in the department of radiation oncology. He received his medical doctorate from David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Olive View — UCLA Medical Center and a radiation oncology residency at City of Hope.

Elena Forouhar, MD, will serve as assistant clinical professor in the department of diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism. She previously served as chief of endocrinology in the division of metabolism and diabetes at Doctors Community Hospital in Maryland.

Erminia Massarelli

Erminia Massarelli

Erminia Massarelli, MD, PhD, MS, has been appointed associate clinical professor in the department of medical oncology and therapeutics research. She will specialize in lung cancer, as well as head and neck cancers. Massarelli received her medical doctorate and PhD in molecular oncology and endocrinology from University of Naples Federico II in Italy. She completed dual medical oncology and thoracic/head and neck medical oncology fellowships at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She also completed a residency in internal medicine at Methodist Hospital in Houston, as well as a clinical fellowship in medical oncology at MD Anderson.
