Bayer awards grants for research into hemophilia, bleeding disorders

Bayer awarded six grants to U.S. clinicians and investigators for research and educational initiatives in hemophilia and related bleeding disorders.
The recipients are Moanaro Biswas, PhD, of University of Florida Cancer & Genetics Research Center; James Dahlman, PhD, of Georgia Institute of Technology; Gary Gilbert, MD, of Boston VA Research Institute; Rahul Khanna, PhD, of University of Mississippi; Michael Milone, MD, of University of Pennsylvania; and Maurizio Tomaiuolo, PhD, of University of Pennsylvania.
“For more than 20 years, Bayer has been committed to working with the hemophilia community, and the Bayer Hemophilia Awards Program grants have played a significant role in driving the next generation of insights for patients and their families,” Dario Mirski, MD, senior vice president and head of medical affairs for the Americas at Bayer, said in a press release. “It is with great pride that we continue to support research and clinical efforts that have the potential to make an impact on the diagnosis and treatment of bleeding disorders.”
Sixteen recipients in 11 countries received grants worth nearly $2 million this year. The Bayer Hemophilia Awards Program has awarded more than 255 grants worth more than $31 million since its inception in 2002.
