ASH selected 22 hematology trainees and early career faculty members to participate in this year’s ASH Clinical Research Training Institute.

The education and mentorship program is designed to prepare trainees and junior faculty for careers in patient-oriented clinical research.

The three-part program helps trainees understand the fundamentals of competitive grant writing, abstract presentation and manuscript preparation; devise strategies for developing successful careers in hematologic research; and build a network with other trainees to promote future collaboration.

The participants are Sherif Badawy, MD, MBBCh, of McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University; Andrew Brunner, MD, of Massachusetts General Hospital; Hannah Choe, MD, of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital; Stacy Croteau, MD, MMS, of Boston Children’s Hospital; Susanna Curtis, MD, of Yale-New Haven Medical Center; Anita D’Souza, MD, MS, of Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals; Melanie Fields, MD, MSCI, of Washington University in St. Louis; Holleh Husseinzadeh, MD, of University of Pennsylvania; Julie Jaffray, MD, of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine; Shaina Johnson, MD, of Vanderbilt University; Jean Koff, MD, of Emory University; Anita Kumar, MD, MS, of Tufts Medical Center; Jessica Leonard, MD, of Oregon Health and Science University; Richard Lin, MD, PhD, of New York University School of Medicine; Carolina Ana Oliver, MD, of British Hospital in Uruguay; Leslie Padrnos, MD, of Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona; Kristen Pettit, MD, of University of Chicago; Bethany Samuelson, MD, of University of Washington; Jennifer Saultz, DO, of Ohio State University Hospital; Ksenya Shliakhtsitsava, MD, of University of California, San Diego; Lena Winestone, MD, MS, of University of Pennsylvania; and Amy Zhou, MD, of Washington University in St. Louis.
